RPGTV Notebook - October 3

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Award Winner (Towcester A4)
No spring chicken, Michelle Brown's former top grader completely fluffed his lines at traps but raced keenly down the back to put himself actually in the pack which was an achievement in itself. Tank emptited late on but that was understandable given the ground made up.

Droopys Crisp (Oxford OR)
Making his debut after some impressive trials, Liz McNair’s February pup walked out the boxes but showed pace to the first bend only to find trouble. Going down the back straight, the leader was away and gone but he showed different gears to ultimately be beaten less than a length.

Droopys Custard (Romford A1)
Recent success in the opening round of the Puppy Cup showcased the ability this youngster but a messy semi saw him exit the competition. Back in graded company, his effort to finish second after a modest break and bumping was encouraging as it was a fairly strong contest.

Faraway Sunset (Crayford A7)
Allison Kelly-Pilgrim's dog did not make the best start then received a big broadside around the opening turn. However, the pace he showed from bends two to three was superior to those around him only for him to meet a wall of traffic at the penultimate turn, losing all momentum.

Lemming Pride (Harlow D4)
Paul Clarke’s raw pup trapped last in debut but tore to the bend, passing four of her five rivals. She looked to be travelling by far the best but ran off into trouble and stayed outside until checking back to the rails off the second which caused further issues. Surely wins very soon.

Lightfoot Sancho (Doncaster B2)
Returning from a three months plus injury absence, Sean Parker's dog ran well in fourth whilst looking in need of the outing. He was squeezed out at the opening turn but then kept tabs on the leaders from halfway until tiring in the closing stages. Should come on a bundle.

Miss Bee United (Hove A4)
Making her first UK start for Richard Rees, the February 2022 pup was slowly away but took advantage of trouble at the bend to turn in second behind the leader. Ultimately second, beaten two and a half lengths, more experience of the track should see her winning in the grade.

Skyfall Splash (Monmore A6)
On his fourth race back, Paul Sallis’ charge was slowly away as usual and turned into the back straight in fifth. He closed the gap into the penultimate turn and flew off the last bend to finish second. He has previous six-bend form so a step back up on trip would be interesting.

Spartan Wolf (Henlow OR)
Carol Grasso's lightly raced two-year-old was up in class after winning but caught the eye in defeat staying on strongly behind an all-the-way winner with six bend form. In similar company and with a clearer passage early on, he will likely prove very tough to beat.
