RPGTV Notebook - October 10

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Absolute Hero (Crayford A7)
Tom Levers trains this promising sort, who has just turned two-years-old. He was well-supported in the market following an impressive debut victory one rung down but missed the break and was always playing catch-up. However, he still ran well to finish second.

⭐
Athlacca Icon (Doncaster A1)
Having won three of five graded races, John Sharp's youngster looked unlucky not to add to the tally. Made a sluggish start before pacing up well where he was bumped but a determined effort put him back in the mix only to be then forced to check. A pup with a big heart.

⭐
Ballymac Paige (Romford A5)
Yet to win in seven starts, but showed good early pace and was just pushed out wide and took a bump at the first bend. Maxine Locke’s bitch battled on well and was beaten just under two lengths. Her early pace should enable her to get a win soon.

Greencroft Oscar (Towcester D3)
Owned and trained by Steve Rayner, this February pup caught the eye as he ran very well after a slow start to finish runner-up.This was just his third start and, already with a win under his belt, he can only build on these promising opening outings to score again.

⭐
Jonis Taxi (Monmore A4)
Having her first start for Gary Griffiths, she broke well but could not quite hold her pitch into the first bend where she found trouble. She gave chase down the far side and closed rapidly on the leader but had given herself too much to do. Can soon leave this level behind.

⭐
Lightfoot Stevie (Hove D3)
Seamus Cahill's dog has been kept to sprinting since returning from a lay-off and ran well enough latest to suggest a victory will be achievable soon. He broke well but could not quite go with them to the first bend then really powered up the run-in to be beaten half a length.

⭐
Lincoln Lawyer (Harlow D3)
Paul Clarke's dog, who kept good company in Ireland, fluffed his lines on debut but did not make the same mistake when opening his account at the second time of asking. Did well to stay balanced when clipped at the turn then came home well up the home straight to prevail.

⭐
Romeo Firebrand (Oxford OR)
From the same superb litter as Romeos Crusade and Cypher, David Mullins’ dog made his debut at Romford in an A4, but left that form well behind when chasing home unbeaten Sir Oreo in a Cowley Puppy Collar trial stakes. Of interest however he fares in the event proper.

Savana Camino (Henlow OR)
A winner over both 460m and 550m at the track, Jason Bloomfield's charge was heavily-backed for a 692m open and supporters looked set to collect as he raced clear. However, he started to come back to the field and was caught in the final stride but similar tactics can work.
