RPGTV Notebook - May 23

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Baran Brady (Harlow D4)
Peter Witchell’s youngster was making his debut at the track having transferred from Hove and should not be long in winning. He broke well but could not match the pace of the winner although he kept trying. Took the bends a little wide, and should come on for the experience.

Macash Lightning (Romford A8)
Still seeking to open his account after six races but he has shown enough to suggest a victory is just around the corner. Katie O'Flaherty's dog was bumped out of the boxes but crept into the contest at the third where he again had no daylight and had to settle for another minor role.

⭐
Murrow Toaster (Henlow A4)
Richard Fitch's charge is still a lightly-raced sort and, having recently tried his luck in an open at Swindon, certainly seemed to fire him up on his return to home soil. He had a far from smooth run but kept rallying hard and clawed back ground to get up for second.

⭐
Newinn Shiner (Hove A4)
An October 2021 youngster, he was foiled in a hat-trick bid but showed why he will continue to pay his way. The 500m trip clearly stretches Jason Heath’s youngster but his early pace is a really potent weapon and will serve him well in the coming weeks in similar contests.

Newsydontheblock (Monmore A5)
Started his career at Romford but now finds himself on a more suitable track for his style of running. Nathan Hunt’s charge went from last to first in his latest start with determination to savour and he can definitely win again over the standard distance before perhaps stepping up in trip.

Queen Etta (Doncaster D2)
Having won on debut at the track, Jo Atkins' bitch got the start wrong second time up but tried to battle with a dog nearly 10kg bigger than her to the turn and despite a bump drove the bend and never gave up. She lost nothing in defeat and certainly has the right attitude.

Sawdust Hondo (Towcester A1)
Steve Rayner's dog just missed out despite battling hard throughout. Having broken well, he railed into the lead rounding the first two bends then kept his challenging kennelmate at bay with a brave third turn run until collared in the final stride. An excellent effort all the same.

Spotondelilarose (Oxford A5)
Karen Dodington's July 2021 youngster has certainly settled in well and produced a career-best although ultimately denied a five-timer, she was slightly held up on the run to the first bend then had the difficult task of bridging the large gap in front of her. However, she rallied hard.

Taha Dancing (Crayford A4)
Dave Lee's dog was only moderately away but got a good run to go third into the back and closed with every stride to ultimately fail by just half a length behind an all-the-way winner. What was particularly noticeable was the way he kept his momentum despite taking a scenic route.
