RPGTV Notebook - July 25

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Auchen Whiskey (Crayford A6)
Jim Reynolds’ veteran was slow to stride and found no racing room at any stage until switching to the middle at the last bend. He then stayed on in fine style to finish third and any better fortune in running will see him hard to hold next time in a similar contest to this.
Boozed Hero (Doncaster B1)
Doubly-upgraded, a very fast exit saw him race clear. However, the meeting was run on a very heavy track with the rails disadvantaged and the wide-running winner picked him up. Granted better underfoot conditions, Sue Watson's dog could be prolific in the coming months
Deacon Zola (Harlow D4)
Having her second career start but a first race at this track she did everything right and was just denied. Debbie Hurlock's bitch broke well and paced only to take a bump off the second bend which cost her the race as she was beaten in a photo-finish.
Finborough Flyer (Monmore A3)
Has shown steady progress up the grading ladder and all signs suggest he is capable of going even further. A strong sort, he just failed to reel in an equally powerful rival on his latest start. With luck in running, Nathan Hunt's charge can hit the target again.
Perfecto Away (Towcester D2)
She was stepping down to two bends and ran really well albeit in defeat. Runner-up to a well-supported winner, she actually caught that rival shortly after the line. Coming out of season nicely for trainer Heather Dimmock and only needs make natural improvement.
Perfecto Buick (Romford A6)
Nathan Hunt's charge has been pitched in the deep end of late but a drop in grade nearly worked. Locked into an early duel, the leaders did not do each other many favours. If he can poach an early lead in a similar contest, it ought to be a winning one.
Petite Ossie (Oxford A3)
Richard Yeates' charge was well-supported for his career debut but fluffed his lines at the start before pacing up well yet still only turning fourth. An impressive back straight surge took him into second and he battled to the front on the run-in only to be blindsided by the winner.
Salacres Pitman (Henlow A7)
Peter Harnden's debutant caught the eye in defeat after a rough ride early. Crowded at the first bend, he did well to stay on his feet at the second corner and entered the back straight last. Knuckling down to the task and chasing hard, he closed to eventually finish third.
Wheres My Hat (Hove A9)
Still learning the ropes, Seamus Cahill's pup ran a blinder in defeat after getting held up in the early exchanges. Moving into overdrive in the second half, she surged up the home straight but just failed to get up. With normal improvement, a victory is surely imminent.
