RPGTV Notebook - July 18

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Britbull Cruiser (Monmore A6)
Having his second start back following a month off, Gary Griffiths' dog ran well in third behind a fancied winner. He broke okay but was squeezed on the run to the bend yet turned third and stayed on powerfully, going clear into the pick-up. Sure to leave this level behind.
Coulditbemagic (Hove A10)
Patrick Browne's bitch only has one victory in 14 starts but ran as if further success is near. She was moderately away and paced up well, riding a bump at the first bend to turn second to a strong runner. Closed the gap to a short-head at the winning line.
Drumdoit Elsa (Romford A8)
Paul Burr's bitch left a lot in the boxes on her most recent outing and had the difficult task of working her way through the field. She was slightly hampered when trying to make a move down the far side but continued to chase hard, making up good ground in the final stages.
Mustang Harper (Doncaster B5)
Only her fourth run back from seasonal rest, Sue Watson's bitch dropped a big hint that her turn is close. She showed good early pace to lead until outstayed on the run-in. Will strip fitter again for the run and should go very close if set a similar challenge next time.
Pennys Rocky (Towcester A4)
Picked up a fourth podium finish in five starts at the track and ran better than being beaten five lengths suggests. Steve Fletcher's dog did not quite make the bend but came to challenge at the third only for the powerful winner to barge through and cost him momentum.
Salacres Gambino (Henlow A7)
Peter Harnden's dog had previously been at Towcester and led up only to run wide. He straightened up on track debut to go clear into the third bend before swinging off again. That cost him as he finished third but he should improve his trackcraft with more experience.
Swift Joel (Crayford A10)
Ran well dropped to the grade for the first time. Crowded on the run-up and bumped at the first bend, Jean Liles' dog challenged again into the third but had to give best to the improving winner. Only beaten just over a length, he can soon open account in a similar contest.
Wachovia Manor (Harlow A7)
Robert Copping’s pup was first highlighted in April and, although he did not build on initial promise, recent signs have been more encouraging. He made a decent start latest but was stopped in his tracks at the second before recovering well to finish runner-up to a winner who had made all.
Zoros Boo (Oxford A4)
Terry Nevin's November 2021 pup has two wins in nine starts despite being yet to find his trapping boots and remaining green. He ran well in defeat latest when rounding rivals to briefly lead at three-quarters and even a slightly smarter exit can see him go one better next time.
