RPGTV Notebook - July 11

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Ballymac Odie (Monmore A2)
Richie Taberner's dog, who mixes open and graded racing, was only just run down by a strong rival. He paced up well to lead then railed beautifully to open up but did move off a little when tiring on the run-in. Similar tactics can work for the recent Nottingham sprint winner.
Consider It Done (Hove A8)
Seamus Cahill's youngster made a winning debut but poor trapping has held him up since. Soon trailing the field latest, he brushed the rails at the first bend but battled on really well, especially when switching to the outside. May well be worth trying from a draw off the fence.
Gizmo Smasher (Towcester A1)
Clearly in need of his return outing after five months off but took a big step in the right direction when a close third latest. Laurence Tuffin's charge can be tapped for a yard of early but stamina ultimately came into play and he went down by just half a length.
Keady Malachi (Doncaster B5)
Having only his third start, Paul Prior's pup obliged despite an upgrade for finishing runner-up. He was once again flat-footed at the start but his pace down the back straight took lengths out of the field. If he can tidy up his trapping, there will be plenty more in the locker.
Kingswood Magic (Henlow A4)
After a level break, Richard Fitch's dog was outpaced to the first turn and was last coming off the second bend. However, he showed the best middle pace and moved rapidly into second then closed down the clear leader. Denied the win by a head, he should go one better soon.
Quivers Husky (Harlow D4)
Paul Clarke's dog was not too highly thought of in the market on debut but was successful all the same. Having left Ireland with A2 lines of form, he should be even better when ultimately stepped up to four bends and is one to follow until finding his level.
Ragtime Logan (Crayford A1)
Theresa Dornan's dog can blow hot and cold but he competes in fair standard over both 380m and 540m and lost nothing in defeat when runner-up in his first graded start since February. Trying to slot inside at the third bend, he could not quite get to the game winner.
Roman Razzle (Romford A7)
Paul Burr's bitch ran a solid race in defeat despite one of her slowest starts. Usually quick off the mark, she found herself having to do it the hard way and come from behind but ran the bends well. Finishing strongly, she was just denied by a length in her quickest time.
Trevisker Max (Oxford A7)
Matt Dartnall's raw youngster showed real potential on his third attempt after struggling to avoid the inside rail the previous twice. Still showing greenness, he certainly came forward and went close, just coming up against a bitch in form who was doubling up.
