RPGTV Notebook - January 31

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Ballinabola Phil (Oxford A3)
Graham Wright's dog has won over four and six bends since moving from Swindon in September and caught the eye running on past beaten rivals over 450m. A progressive sort had cut loose, but he really reduced the deficit late and can time it to perfection in a similar affair.

Bit View Rocket (Romford A2)
Maxine Locke's dog was having his second run back from a short lay-off and looked unlucky. Seemingly unfancied, he broke well and was quickly second, closing in along the back to challenge at the third only to be forced to check. Rallied strongly and only went down narrowly.

Boreen Trump (Harlow A7)
This experienced tracker caught the eye staying on well after a rough ride around the opening turn. In last place as the field entered the back straight, Brian Nicholls' dog ran a remarkable race to be beaten by a length and can go one better in a similar event next time.

Hollywell Bale (Crayford A7)
Jim Reynolds' January 2021 dog missed the break before pacing up well but was crucially chopped off by the winner and forced to check. He again showed pace into the third and ultimately kept the winning margin to three and a half lengths which was no mean achievement.

Redbrick Boyo (Doncaster A4)
Backers of Jimmy Gaskin's dog were very unlucky not to collect as, having been forced to check at the second bend, he was stopped in his tracks when flying into the third. Rallied incredibly well to go down in a photo to signal a return to form. Will surely land compensation.

⭐
Salacres Driller (Towcester D4)
Finished second for Peter Harnden on debut behind litter-brother Salacres Logan. The June 2021 pup broke well but was slightly outpaced by his odds-on kennelmate on the run to the bend. He stayed on well to finish a comfortable second and a repeat performance may suffice.

⭐
Speed Trapper (Monmore A10)
Craig Marston's charge had been away from the track for a couple of months after only four races to start his career. Back from that temporary pause, he took off after a slow start and led the way until just running out of steam off the last. Will strip fitter next time.

⭐
Stellas Belle (Henlow A6)
After winning on debut, Jason Bloomfield's July 2021 youngster was up one grade and showed a lot to like. Good early pace saw her turn in a decent position and she battled down the back straight to take the lead at the third but was unfortunate to get picked up right on the line.

Voltage Flyer (Hove D3)
A July 2021 youngster for Norah McEllistrim and having only her third career start, she is starting to get the knack of exiting the boxes and also showed decent early. She was only beaten a length in the finish but looks close to securing her first win with further improvement likely.
