RPGTV Notebook - January 24

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Coppice Dorothy (Oxford A2)
Trained by Kevin Hutton this July 2021 pup is learning fast. She was bumped by her kennelmate at the first bend and then crowded at the third bend. When she finally found space, she ran on in good style behind a winner who had flown out and was not for catching.

Droopys Barry (Hove A1)
Making his return to action after more than five months off the card, Jamie Kingsley's dog ran a race full of promise. A first top grade success at home base might have been on the cards but for him being short of room when trying to challenge between the final two bends.

⭐
Eire Hannah (Monmore A7)
Bidding to follow up an A8 victory, Jooles Slater's bitch was moderately away but showed excellent early speed to lead round the bend and was clear at halfway. She tired late on and was collared in the shadow of the post but underfoot conditions rated -70 would not have suited.

⭐
Headford Duchess (Harlow A7)
Maurice Rice's puppy debutant put in a cracking performance behind an experienced kennelmate. She broke well from two, moving off immediately suggesting a more middle draw may suit, and chased the pinging winner hard throughout until perhaps tiring just a little late.

Ians Warrior (OR)
John Mullins' pup cut little ice in three graded races at Yarmouth but has fared better since switching to modest open company. After a somewhat unlucky first appearance, he quickly got to the front latest but was collared close home. Qualifies for graded races there now.

⭐
Pesti Pestana (Doncaster B5)
Janice Simpson's bitch was having her third race and arguably showed a lot more in defeat than when she did winning one rung down on debut. She was not brilliantly away and found trouble in running but was determined to stick to the task and closed the gap late on.

Southern Risk (Romford A6)
Martyn Wiley's dog is yet to win a British race to add to a Mullingar success in July but has dropped a few hints that he is ready to achieve that objective. His lack of early leaves him open to traffic issues but he stays the 400m trip well and can open his account in the near future.

Yankee Molly (Crayford OR)
Rick Holloway's bitch had gone well in trials over the 380m trip and readily made a winning debut over six bends in maiden open company. Getting a nice tow into the race, she ultimately went past in determined fashion to win convincingly and could hold her own in better standard.
