RPGTV Notebook - January 17

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Blue Houdini (Henlow A6)
Jason Bloomfield's youngster looked desperately unlucky not to open his account. Crowded early when looking for the rails from two, he recovered well to show different speed off the second bend and was clearly travelling best when forced to check as he challenged off the last.

Cahir Bridge (Crayford H1)
Having just her second hurdles race, Rick Holloway's bitch made an excellent impression. She was beaten to the opening turn by another improving type and took a bump, but was soon chasing the clear leader. Some confident jumping allowed her to close the margin to a length.

Clongeel Show (Hove A2)
Belinda Green's dog is relatively exposed but has been in decent form of late and, despite finishing fifth, this was a far better effort than it looked. Battled to the front at halfway and looked in charge turning for home before weakening on the heavy going and being swallowed up late.

Coppice Elmo (Oxford OR)
An April pup making his first start for Kevin Hutton in an open, he found early trouble before a surge down the far side saw him close the gap on second between the third and fourth bends. Although the winner was gone, he was beaten just a short-head for the silver medal.

Crackling Haze (Romford A8)
Paul Young's dog was crowded at the first bend and shuffled back to fourth. However, he stayed on strongly and looked a danger to the odds-on winner at three-quarters only to lose momentum when searching for a way through. The drop in grade can bring about a revival.

Moaning Dice (Harlow D4)
Mick Fawsitt's young bitch looked like registering a second career success when leading up only to swing very wide into the home straight. Even then, she was only beaten half a length at the line and is clearly in good heart so that second victory should not be too far away.

Savana Grove (Towcester A3)
Frank Gray's bitch dropped a big hint that her turn is imminent when finishing a very close third in a 500m contest prior a well-beaten second in a weekend maiden stayers' open. She again conceded early ground in the four-bender but started to work into the race from halfway.

State Express (Monmore D1)
Making his debut for Graham Rankin, he was immediately up against it when trapping moderately behind favourite Crossfield Larry who was extending his unbeaten top grade sprint record to six. However, he proceeded to pace up really well and ultimately gave that rival a scare.

Trapper Milly (Doncaster B7)
The Diane Cross-trained pup is still looking to secure her first win after five starts but hr latest effort suggests it will not be long in coming. She soon dominated and had a good lead down the back straight but tired coming home and was picked up by a strong-running type.
