RPGTV Notebook - February 7

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Allanit (Crayford A9)
A pup having his third race here for Tommy Batchelor, he had a rough passage in the early stages with bumping on the run-up, first bend and at the quarter point. He recovered well to run on in style and was only beaten a length, dropping a big hint for next time out.
Antigua Magic (Hove A2)
Jason Heath's dog has just lost his puppy tag and already won two of his four UK starts. Moving swiftly up through the grades and finding his feet, he came up against a couple of more experienced and classy rivals but improved his time despite being stopped in his challenge.
Glenbeta Girl (Romford A10)
Has been finding at least one too good in recent weeks and will always need an element of luck due to her lack of early, but Jean Liles' bitch would surely have gone close had she not been forced wide round the final bends. With better fortune, she can pick up similar opposition.
Longvale Bella (Harlow A7)
Having her seventh race, Maurice Rice's bitch was mightily impressive in registering a third win. Breaking well, she showed good pace only to get crowded at the first turn but once she hit the back straight she tore away. The penalty will be tough but there is a lot more to come.
Paddys Spark (Doncaster B6)
Breaking well and looking like racing into a winning lead, Ken Bowman's dog instead ran into trouble which put paid to his chances. He was clearly the fastest in the race and got up to finish a close second. Granted better fortune, his fourth win at the venue should be close.
Sawdust Hondo (Towcester A2)
The writing was on the wall once a strong runner hit the front early on, but Steve Rayner's caught the eye having just his second start since returning from a lay-off. An open-race winner at Oxford and Towcester last year, he can leave graded company behind sooner rather than later.
Stone Of Life (Oxford A2)
Matt Dartnall's dog looked in need of the run on his reappearance but fared much better when attempting to come from off the pace over 450m. It got tight going into the third bend, but he kept on well to be beaten just a length into second and can get back to winning ways soon.
Winterfield Mary (Monmore A4)
Chris Jones' raw pup has plenty of scope for improvement having caught the eye. She finished second first time up and was runner-up again latest when in rear for much of the race but then really kicking it up a gear to make up a good chunk of ground to finish second.
