RPGTV Notebook - February 28

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Dinny Mac (Crayford A3)
Sent off favourite on his British debut for Darren Whitton having signed off in Ireland with a smart Cork sprint victory, he was flat-footed at the start but recovered with a fine burst of pace. Wide-running Knockard Bobby joined him again and he was collared in the final stride.

⭐
Greedy Punter (Hove D1)
Seamus Cahill's charge is a fair sort in top grade over four bends when firing on all cylinders and ran well in defeat in a sprint on his reappearance. Moderately away, he attempted to find his stride into the turn but did not see much daylight even up the home straight.

⭐
Hot Sauce Dude (Romford A3)
Gemma Evans' charge has twice been quadruply-upgraded in his short career to date but looks ready to open his account at his current level. He can start far better than on his latest outing but then paced up well and chased hard despite trouble. Certainly has the pace for the grade.

⭐
Makeit Rumble (Towcester D1)
Frank Gray's dog has found victories hard to come by but looked unfortunate not to add to his tally on his first run last week. Pacing well into the opening bend, he was then stopped in his tracks. Subsequently made a slow start in a weekend race but worth sticking with.

⭐
On The Lake (Harlow A7)
Paul Clarke's dog was twice asked to run from trap two last week having more generally been bang on the rails. On the first of those occasions he found a bit of trouble, losing momentum, but rallied well behind to be only pipped in a photo and was in the wars subsequently.

⭐
Rough Tease (Doncaster D4)
Kenny Bowman's bitch came in as a reserve and was there or thereabouts once again as has generally been the case recently. She met an improving youngster who tore to the bend after a modest start but was far from shabby in that regard herself and ran well in defeat.

⭐
Signet Goon (Oxford A3)
Kevin Hutton's bitch suffered first defeat at the third time of asking but ran into a good one in the shape of Jumeirah Ace, a Puppy Classic heat winner at Nottingham last year. Showed decent early pace off a less than stellar start and it was only late on his pursuit level dropped.

⭐
Talbot Lockdown (Monmore S1)
Proven over four and six bends in his own backyard, Richie Taberner's dog has shown signs that he is ready to end a lean spell. Holding his pitch on the inside, he found a progressive and strong-running sort had got first crack at the leader but stuck to the task admirably.

Three Lions (Henlow A7)
Pam Dolby's bitch has just lost her puppy status but is still lightly-raced. She was away from the track for a couple of months over winter and has been strengthening up with each race back, with her sectionals and overall times improving. Pipped latest, she can soon go one better.
