RPGTV Notebook - August 8

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Bellicus Breeze (Crayford A6)
Darren Whitton's bitch was having her first run back after a few weeks off. She did well in defeat behind a strong rival who got first run, which shows how well she performed to be second. Will come on for the effort and should go close in a similar contest next time.

⭐
Droopys Lentil (Oxford OR)
Matt Dartnall's debutant gave odds-on backers of the heavily-supported winner quite a scare. Turned in a decent pitch despite a modest start then raced into the third bend to make what looked a winning move herself before losing all chance when treading on the back of the leader.

⭐
Easy Zone (Towcester D1)
Has four-bend wins to his credit but Frank Gray's charge dropped to two bends for his Northants return. It was never going to be an easy task drawn outside a real early-paced type and he fell out of traps himself but knuckled down and stayed on in really taking fashion.

Energize Jenz (Henlow A9)
Making her debut for Jason Bloomfield, she was a big eyecatcher. She broke moderately but paced up well to lead and stayed in front until swinging wide into the home straight. That allowed a kennelmate to go by and relegate her to second. Improvement looks a given.

⭐
Fleetwood Flash (Harlow A7)
Debbie Hurlock's charge was slowly away on her four-bend debut giving the strong-running favourite on her inside a clear run into the first bend. Nipping through on the rails, she gave chase and closed the gap going into the third and went second soon afterwards.

Give Me That (Doncaster D2)
Yet to score in seven attempts, Debbie Calvert's bitch has recently dropped back to sprinting after struggling to stay four bends. Having her third try at the level, she missed her break but showed good early pace only to be forced to check when trying to get up inside the leader.

Jeopardy Hawk (Romford A7)
Paul Young's dog is coming forward with experience and showed he should not have any problems making his mark at the level with a creditable second place finish. Lacking early pace, he closed down on a strong sort up the home straight to be beaten just half a length.

Maree Master (Oxford OR)
A step up to six was probably inevitable and Dave Lewis' dog broke well, taking the lead early on. After going well clear for most of the race, he did start to tire coming home and was picked up. The front two were clear, however, and the form looks strong.

Roxhill Melita (Monmore A3)
Only lightly-raced, Paul Sallis' bitch looked quicker than her rivals on the straights but ran into trouble on the bends, particularly the first where she was knocked back to last. Given that this was only her second run back from a spell on the sidelines, she should strip fitter too.
