RPGTV Notebook - August 29

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Conans Puma (Romford A8)
Paul Young's pup debutant showed good pace into the opening bend before taking a hefty bump which will not have aided her chances. She dug deep to stretch them out down the back straight and, although she was picked up late on, improved on her time. Further progress likely.
Epic Jet (Doncaster A1)
Not a young dog at two and a half years old but in terms of racing experience he is lacking. This was just his third race, second win, and a very impressive one at that. Jimmy Gaskin's dog showed good pace up but found plenty of trouble yet still managed to collar a strong rival.
Fenview Taylor (Henlow IT)
Still seeking to poke his head in front after 13 starts, but has certainly shown more than enough. Paul Steward's dog did all his best work in the second half and, although the well-supported winner was gone, there was a lot to like about the way he reduced the deficit.
Ivy Hill George (Monmore A4)
Alan Jenkins' youngster may have failed to justify his short price but certainly left a calling card. Now a four-race maiden in the UK, this was his best effort to date and it will not be long before he opens his account. Flashed home and could be hard to hold in similar company.
Natural Bandit (Harlow A7)
Debbie Hurlock's dog was well-backed on UK debut but, after showing fair pace, he ran off slightly rounding the first two bends letting other runners up his inside. Rallied hard and only went down by a short-head in a race which will have done him the world of good.
Offyourhighorse (Hove S3)
Belinda Green's stayer looked unlucky in a competitive contest. In fifth position with a lap to go, she began to make her move on the inside and took off down the far side before encountering trouble. With any sort of clear run she would likely have emerged as a comfortable winner.
Shockwave Nippy (A4)
Kim Gooding’s pup returned to graded company in search of a first career success. She was crowded and bumped at the first bend, then recovered well to close the winner down to under two lengths at the line and will surely claim honours herself soon if offered a similar opening.
Tons Princess (Crayford A10)
Only a baby at 16 months old, she improved from her debut fourth to be runner-up. She was backed off the boards but found the winner too streetwise and got out-muscled but still ran with loads of promise. Surely wins soon for trainer Jim Reynolds with natural improvement.
