RPGTV Notebook - April 18

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Baliff Zoraya (Oxford OR)
Kevin Hutton's Galway winner was stepped up to six bends for the first time and finished an excellent second behind a heavily-backed winner. Although she had trialled over 450m at the track, she did give a little ground away on the bends and did well to finish as close as she did.
Ballintemple Lou (Henlow A6)
Terry Nevin's bitch has returned following a good spell at Oxford and she showed plenty of promise in defeat. After a good break, she took the lead from the start until she got outstayed off the last bend. Another performance like this and she will be winning again soon.
Caramels Crisp (Hove A10)
Tony Taylor's pup can soon add to his one victory in five career starts judged by his latest second behind a well-fancied winner. Involved in something of a constant bumping match until entering the back straight but chased well until just forced to check his stride near the last bend.
Danamesbuzz (Towcester D1)
Michael Pike only has a small but select kennel and his latest recruit caught the eye on debut. From a level break, he showed good pace to emerge in second but then got tangled up and lost momentum. However, he still claimed silver and the experience will have done good.
Daves Blitz (Monmore A9)
Fancied to open his account, Kim Billingham's pup was a little flat-footed but paced up well and really impressed in the manner he railed into the lead at the turn, taking a very efficient route. Even though he succumbed late on, it was a good effort and that win should come soon.
Keplar Moon (Romford A6)
John Simpson's bitch was well beaten on debut but is a pup learning the ropes and fared much better on her second start. She jinked after exiting the boxes but managed to turn in pursuit of the leader and never gave up the chase up the home straight. A victory could be imminent.
Moaning Clyde (Crayford A9)
A pup trained by Darren Whitton who showed both greenness and good pace on her third start. She led or disputed to the last bend before a stronger and more experienced rival forged on to score by just over two lengths. On this evidence should soon leave current grade well behind.
Saleen Sky (Doncaster B6)
Yet to win for Sue Watson but has caught the eye in all four career starts to date and did a lot of running again after a really rough ride when a warm order. When he does see daylight early, his middle pace should be a potent weapon at this level and losses can be recovered.
Throw Back Tom (Harlow A7)
Debbie Hurlock's youngster failed to cut much ice in the four sprints he contested but the step up to 415m saw a better display. Tardy at the boxes, he really worked into the race from halfway and stayed on well against an equally strong sort to finish a close second.
