RPGTV Notebook - 16 May

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Bobbing Gnarleen (Harlow D4)
Paul Clarke's bitch has been the epitome of consistency since arriving from Central Park, finishing on the podium in her last seven starts. She may well have registered a fourth victory but for running very wide off the second with her late rally failing by a head. In great heart.

Choices Penny (Romford A2)
Dropping back into graded company after an open run, Jean Liles' veteran caught the eye staying on well after a slow start. Excellent middle speed and a big finish significantly reduced the arrears and, given that she can start better, has to be of interest in a similar contest.

Eillies Queen (Monmore D3)
Craig Marston's bitch looked an unlucky loser. She broke well and was just about to turn in good position to win the race only to have her back legs taken away. She stayed on well to finish third and a clear run next time in similar company should see her go close.

Girvan Girl (Towcester D4)
Andy Ioannou's bitch, an all-the-way 460m winner at Henlow in January, found her trapping boots for the first time at Towcester on her third start there and just failed to make the bend in a sprint. She kept on well and a similarly modest contest should prove within her compass.

⭐
Macchiato (Henlow A6)
Jason Bloomfield's dog signalled a return to form after a disappointing spell including one race where he cramped. He showed fine early pace but was caught by a pup going places and is unlikely to bump into one as good next time. Stretching out in front should have done him good.

Moneygall Norman (Oxford OR)
Karen Dodington’s star ran an eye catching race in defeat in an open at home track Oxford. He was denied a clear run in the first half of the race but flew home from halfway, coming from well off the pace to surge into second late on. Can soon add to his seven previous wins at the track.

Patricias News (Doncaster B7)
A greyhound 16 without a win who is far from fluent on the bends might not seem an obvious choice but Debbie Calvert's bitch showed such superior pace on the straights she has to be of interest. If holding her pitch, she should be far too good for this level.

Riverside Victor (Crayford A9)
Still seeking a first victory after five starts at the track, Theresa Dornan's pup missed his break but showed good pace only to get touched off wide. He rallied down the back straight but was denied racing room initially then collided with a rival. Could be hard to hold with a clear.

Swiper (Hove OR)
Matt Dartnall's dog trapped okay in a 500m maiden before being slightly outpaced and then found trouble as he turned only fifth. He took his time to get going but stayed on really well in the end being, beaten just a length. Look out for him stepped up in trip.
