RPGTV Notebook - October 17

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.

Ballymac Camilla (Towcester OR)
Jimmy Fenwick's bitch was a big eye catcher in a Puppy Derby trial stakes on her first look at the track. Slowly away from trap one, she found plenty of trouble at the first bend but closed right in on the Romford Puppy Cup champion winner in the second half.
Glens Lucky Dip (Doncaster D4)
Had shown little on his belated debut but, in an admittedly very modest contest second time up, made a big stride forward. Lee McManus' dog still showed signs of inexperience but found a chunk of time and looks to have a race or two in him at a lowly level.
Last Dance Dylan (Romford A11)
An eye catching debut run from this young pup. Having already been beaten by one of his rivals in trials, he was not well in and the eventual winner was also a UK newcomer. The manner ins which Katie O'Flaherty's dog stayed on to grab second was hugely encouraging.
Lazlos Girl (Harlow A7)
Debbie Hurlock's bitch has been mixing and matching two and four-bend racing and looked unlucky over 415m. Flat-footed at the start, she paced up well but was forced to check and lost plenty of ground. She kept on really well and came through to challenge on the run-in.
Longacres Matter (Henlow A6)
Jason Bloomfield's dog ran with credit behind a good winner who clocked a fast 27.99sec. Was always playing catch up but kept the margin to four lengths and was not far off his best time which suggests he is capable of success himself soon to add to sole track victory.
Lokis Deception (Oxford A2)
Search for a victory stretched to six when a beaten favourite latest but Matt Dartnall's bitch ran an incredible race all the same. Broke well enough only to immediately stumble badly and effectively lose all chance but proceeded to chase really hard to eventually claim second.
Maleficent (Crayford OR)
Dropped back down in trip to a much shorter distance of 540m, a poor start and crowding put her out the back early on and effectively out of the race. However, Robert Emery's bitch really dug deep to ultimately finish third and she has to be of interest in the final.
Molly Maid (Hove OR)
Seamus Cahill's bitch is better known as a sprinter but had impressed over 500m previously and was fancied again. However, a poor start and bad crowding left her trailing but she battled really well to get into a qualifying position before being denied in the final strides.
Trubbys Swift (Monmore D1)
Off the track since May, Pat Cowdrill's dog was heavily-supported for his first-ever graded sprint but was just about last out of traps. He paced up really well only to just get tangled a little at the opening turn before a strong rally saw him beaten three-parts of a length.
