RPGTV Notebook - July 5

Highlighting the greyhounds who have caught the eye of RPGTV analysts over the past seven days.
⭐
Ardera Charm (Doncaster A3)
Yet to score at the level, Ricky Overton's bitch ran a blinder when second to a well-fancied winner. Having paced up to turn second, she chased hard throughout and only went down by half a length in her best time. May not need to produce much more to pick up a similar contest.

⭐
Brennans Rose (Crayford E1)
Yet to open her account after nine races at Sheffield plus seven since switching to the Jim Reynolds' kennel but definitely offered hope despite finishing fifth on 714m graded debut. Was crowded early and dropped right out before picking up powerfully on the final circuit.

Crickleowl Peggy (Henlow IT)
Jason Ray's bitch showed plenty of promise on her return to the venue where she was formerly graded prior to a Suffolk Downs switch. She stumbled out the boxes and took a bump but showed plenty of trackcraft and made up a lot of ground to finish second behind her litter-sister.

⭐
Jura Go Walpole (Harlow A7)
Maurice Rice's 13-times Yarmouth winner is now plying his trade in new surroundings and dropped a big hint. Slow starts do him no favours but he rails exceptionally well to get competitive and was coming with a big run at the third only to be stopped in his tracks.

⭐
Nothing In Asia (Monmore A6)
Carol Weatherall's debutant did not go unbacked but was short of racing room around the first two turns and stopped in her tracks. However, she showed plenty to get in a challenging position only to move off but again rallied. She is one for punters to keep on side.

⭐
Seans Spendy (Hove A7)
Tony Taylor's bitch is quite exposed and without a win since May but dropped a big hint that her turn is around the corner. A slight stumble out of traps made things tougher but she put in a good all-round performance and was only out-finished by a strongly-fancied winner.

Spot On Bella (Central Park D3)
Karen Dodington's bitch has had to settle for a minor role recently but can gain reward for her persistency soon. Well-housed on the rails on her latest start, she just failed to reel in the winner who had nicked a decisive advantage at the first bend. A similar effort may suffice.

Teddydatortoise (Romford A6)
Bernie Doyle's January 2021 youngster checked at the start and struggled for racing room as a result but then nipped inside trouble to go third. Had a lot of ground to make up and had to settle for second but the way he finished suggests a second victory will arrive soon.

Westwell Diego (Towcester A2)
Kevin Hutton's youngster was thrown in at the deep end for his debut, a level which is the territory of numerous open-class greyhounds. The pup was slowly away and bumped at the first bend but recovered to run an encouraging race behind a hot favourite and a strong runner.
