Lifford back up-and-running after near four-year hiatus
Lifford has reopened for racing under new management having been closed for almost four years

LIFFORD officially re-opened on April 2 with a ten-race gala card broadcast on RPGTV.

The Co. Donegal venue, originally built in 1959 and significantly refurbished some 20 years ago, closed in August 2019 but a consortium of investors including former racehorse trainer and vet Mark Johnston finalised a deal to purchase it and, after a drawn-out process, were granted a racing licence by Greyhound Racing Ireland.

At the gala official relaunch, Corbrack Prince starred on the track.

Sent off evens favourite for a 325 yards sprint, Robert Gleeson's charge took no prisoners as he quickly asserted and went on to score by four lengths from Fridays Macushla in 17.30sec, eight spots inside the 20-year-old track record of Jamellas Phantom.
